There are many theories within physical education that enable teachers to make connections between physical movement and cognitive thought processes. The WSCC and Various Model are two of these models.
Models of the Community
WSCC
-
Whole School, Community, and Child
-
A child needs a whole activity environment supporting them in order to make a whole child
-
As teachers and parents we need to make sure children have resources available to them, and work together, to make sure a child stay actively involved
Various Models
-
Has many components, some focus on overcoming mental obstacles.
-
A lot of students have trouble getting over these walls making them resistant to participate, body image affects this area greatly
-
This model finds different ways for teachers and parents to help children overcome stress, body image issues, procrastination, and physical limitations as well.
-
The Growth Mindset Theory applies in this model because we are trying to teach children to overcome problems and still continue to set new goals even if they already have overcome one
Connecting to the Community
-
Positive pre-guidance and being surrounded in a community can produce stronger children
-
Physical Education needs to be involved early on in life to set a standard that physical activity makes a healthier happier lifestyle
-
We need to teach children to accept their given bodies instead of shaming them for it while also implementing that everyone needs to strive to be their best self
-
Both of these models involve active communities by helping children move barriers and teaching them how to be active in their schools and in their communities
