Plan of Action

I am inspired by the hope that teachers can one-day reform society by modeling the young minds of the future generation. Being in the education field means more than just filling our students' minds with the material, it means that as educators we have the responsibility of shaping them into the people and thinkers that our current and future society will need. In order to do this, I plan to reconstruct the minds of my students and teach them how to think on their own and be young philosophers; I will influence them to question everything. This is an area that is often overlooked by educators, however, if we want our society to flourish we have to prepare our students to partake in our society and be the future leaders of a society we cannot yet imagine.Therefore, every teacher needs to ask themselves three questions before stepping foot into a classroom;

1.What is the purpose of education?

2. Who are the students sitting in my classroom?

3. How am I going to prepare my students to participate in 21st -century democracy and compete in the global economy?

Classrooms are full of eager bright eyes, however, most people do not view every student as an individual, instead, they look at the class as a whole. I see driven scholars sitting in my classroom and I am not there to teach content, I am there to teach people. I do not want to just get through coursework, but first, find out the best way each student learns. If we first take the time to find this information, our students will absorb the content better and we can empower students’ future learning because they will feel more optimistic when acquiring future knowledge if it can be taught in the way they obtain experiences best. My learning community will be built on the inclusion of all groups of learners with varying life and learning experiences. Inclusion means that everyone feels valued, and knows that they bring something special to the table that others can learn from. I will create this dynamic environment by including activities, books, and other resources that fit my students’ experiences. By doing this, students will be more accepting of their classmates and construct a more cohesive environment. Vygotsky built his Sociocultural Theory around the idea that social interactions play a fundamental role in cognitive development, I plan to build these positive social interactions through inclusion in my classroom.
